The two concepts I want to look deeply at are the ideas of Socratic questioning and Prophetic Witness. Both of these I keep finding popping up in lots of places not jsut in Cornel West's podcasts. They both ask people to view things in another way and to live our lives differently than we would have otherwise. Socratic questioning is what i find to be the upmost imporant of the four choices we were given to write about because it says question everything. This can create the foundation of anything. I also find this idea so important because it stresses that you shouldnt just accept somethingbecause you are told it. This plays very well into the topic of racism which West was speaking about because people of black color have been told that they are lesser people to whiter skinned people. This Socratic questioning asks you to question that and dig deeper than jsut the words yu are told. Something many people find when looking for the differences ae that there really arnt that many besides the stereotypes we let play into our minds.
The second topic I wish to look further into is the idea of prophetic witness. This is probably the most interesting topic to discuss because it asks people to do more, far more, than they usually do. To be a prophetic witness you must witness the action you wish to speak about with sole purpose and intent to retell it as truly as it was. I picked this because it has a personal note to it which ties closer then i first realized in to racism and mroe closely descrimination. This really ties into being an ethical democratic citizen because it makes you see things for what they are and the truth of them. Also it allows you to see things out fo the context they are into see more into them and what they are.
